  4.      This is a collection of utility programs for LOADSTAR 128 that will be
  5. published on every issue.  By zipping through these menus you can:
  6.  
  7.  (1) Print out a subscription form
  8.  
  9.  (2) Print out a back issue order form
  10.  
  11.  (3) Print out a submission form for sending us a program for consideration
  12.  
  13.  (4) Critique this issue or just write us a note
  14.  
  15.  (5) Append the data for this issue's programs to the library file for
  16.      LOADSTAR LIBRARY, published on LS 128 #12.
  17.  
  18.      Just select which of these functions you want to perform by moving the
  19. highlight bar with the CRSR UP and CRSR DOWN key.  Press RETURN to select. 
  20. Since the menu items are numbered, you can just press the number if you
  21. want.  All of the modules return to the main menu of LOADSTAR BRIEFS when
  22. they are done.

  28.     The subscription form gives you all the information you need to become a
  29. regular subscriber to LOADSTAR 128.  You may use your favorite plastic in
  30. lieu of a check.  Please tell us if you are a new subscriber or are renewing
  31. a current subscription.

  33.     If you are subscribing from a country outside the United States, the
  34. payment must be in US funds.  Checks or money orders must be drawn on a US
  35. bank.
  36.  
  37.     The submission form is for sending us your latest program gem.  It is
  38. important that you fill out every blank and sign down at the bottom,
  39. certifying that the program is your own original work.  Your phone number(s)
  40. and the start-up filename are very important.  While you're at it, send as
  41. much documentation about the program as you can.  However, don't print out
  42. BASIC or ML listings.

  44.     The back issue form will let you easily purchase any LOADSTAR 128 back
  45. issue.  After printing, just circle the issue(s) you want, enclose a check,
  46. money order, or credit card, and pop it in the mail.

  52.     Readers of LOADSTAR for the C-64 are familiar with Jeff Jones' FEEDBACK
  53. MACHINE.  It's a dedicated mini-word processor that makes it easy for
  54. readers to comment on every feature on an issue -- or comment on anything
  55. for that matter.  Now, thanks to Paul McAleer, LOADSTAR 128 has a similar
  56. program.
  57.  
  58.     It uses an ML routine written by Scott Resh for LOADSTAR 128 #6 called
  59. QUICKTEXT.O so it's pretty quick for entering comments and printing.  It
  60. reads a file called "features" -- found on every LOADSTAR 128 -- and prompts
  61. you for each program on the issue.  You have up to six lines of comments you
  62. can enter for each program.  Just remember to press RETURN at the end of
  63. each line.  If you press RETURN on a blank line, you'll go to the next
  64. program prompt.  You can press ESC during typing to quit to BRIEFS.

  66.     Note that the CRITIQUE is not a full-blown word processor.  You cannot
  67. edit a line once it's entered.  If you want to comment in a more
  68. sophisticated way, please use your favorite word processor.

  70.     The program will ask for your name and address first.  Please enter this
  71. so we can respond to any questions you may ask.  If you don't ask any
  72. questions we probably won't answer, but we're always interested in your
  73. opinions.

  75.     At the end of the critique there will be some additional questions about
  76. the documentation, Q-Link, and your equipment.  If you are commenting on a
  77. problem with a program it will help us attempt a diagnosis if you list your
  78. equipment.

  86.     On LOADSTAR 128 #12 we presented 128 LIBRARY by Barbara Schulak, a handy
  87. way to keep track of the LOADSTAR 128's published so far.  Every issue from
  88. now on we will supply you with an update file for you to add to your 128
  89. LIBRARY program.
  90.  
  91.     Just run this program and have your 128 LIBRARY disk handy.  The file on
  92. LOADSTAR 128 #12 was called "128 loadstars" but you may have edited it for
  93. your particular needs and saved it under another filename.  That's the way
  94. 128 LIBRARY was designed.  After you choose LIBRARY UPDATE, you can see
  95. quickie instructions, append this issue's data, view the directory, or quit.
  96. Choose Append to add data, and this issue's data will be read.  At the
  97. filename prompt, insert your data disk and type in the filename.  The drive
  98. will whir and your data file will now be up to date.
